MADISON, FL – North Florida College’s Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness represented
the College on the statewide stage this past month as Executive Director of Institutional
Research & Effectiveness Dani Mays and Associate Director Cheri Green attended the
Florida Banner User Group (FLBUG) Conference, held Oct. 9-10, at Florida Southwestern
State College in Fort Myers.
FLBUG is the leading professional gathering for Florida colleges and universities
that use Ellucian’s Banner and related products, providing a collaborative forum for
institutions to exchange ideas, showcase innovations and strengthen statewide data
systems.
As part of the two-day conference, Cheri Green presented “From Static to Strategic:
A Cost-Effective APEX Solution for Campus-Wide Assessment,” highlighting NFC’s transformation
of assessment through technology.
“Our goal was to move beyond simply collecting assessment data,” said Cheri Green,
Associate Director of Institutional Research. “We wanted to build a living, collaborative
system that enhances transparency and efficiency across campus. By leveraging the
tools, we already have, we’ve shown that innovation doesn’t have to come with a high
price tag.”
The session showcased NFC’s new Oracle Application Express (APEX) platform, which
replaces static reports with a dynamic, collaborative workflow for campus-wide assessment.
Designed as a cost-effective, in-house solution, the platform integrates online comments
for improved collaboration and connects directly with Evisions Argos reporting to
generate accreditation-ready documentation, eliminating the need for costly third-party
systems.
“This project demonstrates how strategic thinking and technical creativity can truly
make a difference for smaller institutions,” said Dani Mays, Executive Director of
Institutional Research. “We’re proud to share NFC’s approach with peer institutions
and to contribute to the broader conversation about data-driven improvement in higher
education.”
The FLBUG Conference continues to be a vital resource for professional growth and
collaboration among institutional research, IT and administrative professionals across
Florida’s higher education system. NFC’s participation underscores its commitment
to innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement in institutional effectiveness
and student success.
